History of St. Nicholas Church;
St. Nicholas Church, a holy place for Christians, is located in Nagari Union, Kaliganj Upazila, Gazipur. It was built in 1983 on the banks of the Shitalakshya river. The first bilingual Bible in the regional Bengali language of Kaliganj was translated from St. Nicholas Church and the first bilingual dictionary and prose were also published from this church. The church was established by order of Emperor Jahangir after the Portuguese Christians left their dormitory in the late sixteenth century.

How to go;
To visit this church, one must first come from Dhaka to Tongi in Gazipur. From Tongi, take Kaliganj bus or CNG and then cross Ahsan Ullah Master Flyover. Then you can go to St. Nicholas Church via Nalchhata Bridge. The distance from this bridge to the church is only 2-3 kilometers. Moreover, the church can be easily reached by private car or microbus from Dhaka or any other city.
